Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bayern Munich 5-4 this Tuesday at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League semi-final (the second leg is on Wednesday, May 6). Lucas Hernandez, the 30-year-old Parisian full-back, spoke to PSG TV after the match to discuss the victory.
Lucas Hernandez: “We’ll have to go and win the match there.”
“I think for all the fans, both Parisians and Bayern fans, it was an exceptional match. A very high-intensity match, with lots of chances and lots of goals. An incredible match, and with the victory at the end. But, well, we’ll have to go and win the match there.
We’re aware that we played a great match today. Even though we struggled, we took this victory.” Now, we have to go there and play the same way, attack, and win the match.
PSG can’t afford to go to Munich hoping to hold onto this one-goal lead. They’ll have to play at the Alianza Arena with the same determination, the same grit, and above all, the same clinical finishing. The Bavarians will undoubtedly be eager to secure qualification in front of their home crowd.
For their part, PSG will logically be ready to give everything to reach the final and defend their title. Given the level of the first leg, we can only salivate at the thought of the second leg. But while the spectacle is sure to be there, we must hope for a positive outcome for this Parisian team, which is always impressive on the European stage.
