Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, the 27-year-old and 23-year-old full-backs for Paris Saint-Germain, finished the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich (a 5-4 victory, the second leg is on May 6) with some discomfort. RMC Sport provided an update on Wednesday, with mixed news.
“The Moroccan international will undergo further tests this afternoon.”
“The initial tests Achraf Hakimi underwent this morning have ruled out simple cramps. The Moroccan international will undergo further tests this afternoon. If it’s just a muscle strain, the countdown will begin for him to be fit to play next Wednesday. If it’s more serious, Warren Zaïre-Emery will take over as interim manager.
Reassuring news for Nuno Mendes, who came off in the 84th minute. He should be able to play next week unless there’s a new physical problem.”
Nuno Mendes apparently has nothing more than cramps, which is positive for the future. We simply expect him to rest this Saturday against Lorient (Ligue 1 Matchday 32), like some of the other players. However, Hakimi’s availability for the return leg is currently uncertain. There’s something going on, but we’ll have to see exactly what. We should know soon, let’s keep our fingers crossed for reassuring news.
