Presnel Kimpembe, the 30-year-old defender for Qatar SC, has a long and illustrious history with Paris Saint-Germain. A product of PSG’s youth academy, he was on the pitch last season to help secure their first Champions League title. Le Parisien has announced that he has been chosen as an ambassador for the final. His role will include bringing the trophy to the match.
Kimpembe: “It’s a great honor to represent Paris Saint-Germain in this Champions League final.”
According to our sources, Presnel Kimpembe has been chosen as PSG’s ambassador in Budapest on Saturday, following in the footsteps of Javier Pastore last year, on the sidelines of PSG’s resounding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final. This choice was made by Nasser al-Khelaïfi and the Parisian club’s sporting management.
“It’s a great honor to represent Paris Saint-Germain in this Champions League final,” commented the 30-year-old center-back, now playing for Qatar SC. “This is my boyhood club, the club where I grew up. I thank the President, the Sporting Director, and the coach for their confidence. I hope to be a lucky charm for the team and for all Parisian supporters.”
This is a wonderful gesture from PSG for Kimpembe, a club legend whose connection to the club remains very strong. He had to leave in order to secure regular playing time after the competition became too fierce following two years of injuries, but the love and respect are still very much alive.
This will be a special moment for the defender, especially if he can then celebrate another PSG victory with his former teammates, coaches, and management.
