Having arrived from Mallorca during the summer transfer window in July 2023, Lee Kang-In, a 25-year-old South Korean midfielder/winger, is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2028. Having been more of a backup player in recent months, he has attracted the attention of transfer rumors in recent weeks, notably from Atlético Madrid. There was also talk of a contract extension. Today, Sport reports that FC Barcelona also made inquiries during a meeting with the agent of Javi Guerra (the 23-year-old Valencia midfielder).
“There is no planned offensive nor any open negotiations”
The meeting also served to discuss, we reiterate, in a very informal manner, Kang-In Lee. The PSG player, who is of great interest to Atlético de Madrid, is another of the players whose situation was discussed during the meeting.
In this case, as happens with dozens of players every year, the interest was limited to understanding his current circumstances and the reality of his sporting situation. There is no planned offensive nor any open negotiations for the South Korean international, although the sporting director is keeping an eye on him.
As already stated by the Spanish newspaper, a sign of the very tentative start of the rumor mill, there is no offer yet, and there’s no guarantee one will come. A transfer is therefore a long way off. This could also be seen as a desire not to offend anyone, whereas the recent aim has been to re-establish a positive relationship between Barça and PSG. In any case, Lee Kang-In is still far from leaving.
However, the interest of Atlético Madrid or Barça in this technically gifted, creative, and versatile player is quite credible. As is the idea of him continuing to fight for playing time at PSG. Above all, the situation remains very unclear. We will therefore wait for more concrete details.
