Maghnes Akliouche, a 24-year-old attacking midfielder/winger and French international, joined Paris Saint-Germain from AS Monaco this summer. Shortly after signing a contract running until 2031, he spoke to the club’s official website.
Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is a source of immense pride. Having grown up in the Île-de-France region, joining such a prestigious club means a great deal to me and my family. I would like to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos, and Luis Enrique for the trust they have placed in me, as well as everyone who has supported me along the way. I look forward to wearing this jersey, continuing to develop at this great club, and giving my all to defend PSG’s colors in front of the fans.
Naturally, Akliouche arrives at PSG with high ambitions. His talent is unquestionable; the main question surrounding him is his ability to perform consistently. He is clearly eager to prove he can take that next step. Doing so would also boost his chances of earning playing time with the French national team—or at least getting opportunities to showcase his abilities.
He also needs to approach this new chapter with humility, as he faces stiff competition and will no longer enjoy the guaranteed starting role he had at Monaco. He will have chances to play, help the team, and develop. The conditions are ideal, with world-class players around him and coach Luis Enrique at the helm. However, the coach has other options at his disposal as well. It will be crucial for Akliouche to accept this reality and avoid frustration if he finds himself on the bench during a big match.
Luis Enrique frequently emphasizes the importance of the entire squad, and his team selections reflect this. Yet, nothing is handed out for free; players must earn their spot and demonstrate their value to the team. That is exactly what we hope to see from Akliouche.
