Maghnes Akliouche, a 24-year-old attacking midfielder/winger developed at AS Monaco, has recently established himself as one of French football’s top talents. This rise to prominence not only secured his status at the club and earned him a spot in the French national team but also attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain. After lengthy negotiations, his transfer to PSG was officially confirmed today (for a reported fee of around €50 million).
There had already been interest during the 2025 transfer window, but no agreement could be reached—leading to skepticism when rumors resurfaced in 2026. However, AS Monaco was more open this time around, and PSG managed to make steady progress. Negotiations with the player himself went smoothly; he was determined to seize the opportunity to join a club at the pinnacle of European football.
This is a chance for Akliouche to truly establish himself at the highest level. He will need to iron out his inconsistency—an issue perhaps exacerbated this season by his desire to leave as early as last summer. To help him succeed, he will be surrounded by a strong squad, some of the world’s best players, and head coach Luis Enrique. There is every reason to expect him to grow and develop.
That said, the French international faces an adjustment period. It is a different style of play, but above all, a completely different level of pressure—not to mention the competition for places. Akliouche is used to being a starter for big matches at club level; things will be tougher now.
