Mika Godts, a 21-year-old forward (primarily a left winger) for Ajax Amsterdam (under contract until 2029) and Belgium, who enjoyed an impressive season, has recently been linked to Paris Saint-Germain. De Telegraaf reported on Thursday that the renowned agent Jorge Mendes has been commissioned by the Dutch club to broker a deal.
“Ajax has enlisted the services of Jorge Mendes to secure the best price for Mika Godts (21). The famous Portuguese agent has been appointed, knows the minimum fee the Amsterdam club wants to receive from PSG, and is leading negotiations with the French side.
Godts himself is waiting. As his agent Niels De Jonck announced, the Belgian left winger has reached an agreement in principle with PSG on a contract running until the summer of 2031 or 2032. Godts is eager to join the Parisian club, though he is currently part of the Ajax squad facing Shelbourne FC tonight.”
As this newspaper is generally reliable, it is safe to assume this claim isn’t baseless. It is a relatively positive sign for the transfer, as it suggests Ajax is willing to see the deal through rather than shutting the door. However, it won’t necessarily be easy—even if the excellent relationship between Jorge Mendes and PSG might help.
Let’s hope for concrete good news soon. PSG is stepping up its transfer activity, likely aiming to have a full squad ready early in the season. Godts is expected to be part of it, though nothing is guaranteed just yet.
