Paris Saint-Germain traveled to face Stade Rennais this Sunday in the final match of Ligue 1 Matchday 1, returning with a 2-2 draw after trailing 2-0 at halftime. Speaking to PSG TV, Mika Godts, the 21-year-old Parisian forward, reflected on the match.
Godts: “I tried to give it my all”
“It was very important. We were down 2-0, then we tried to fight back and succeeded. I was happy because they had been leading 2-0. I was focused on the game; I tried to give it my all, and I did.”
It was a draw that felt like a victory for PSG, given how poorly the match had started for them. Trailing 2-0, the Parisians managed to find the necessary resources to salvage a result against a Stade Rennais side determined to put on a show and secure the three points in front of their home crowd. At this stage of the season, it is natural for PSG to struggle physically; pre-season preparations began late for most players, and new signings are still adapting to the squad.
Nevertheless, the mental determination of this PSG side is already evident, showing an ability to turn the tide in an away game against a major rival. Even without the win, the Parisian performance is certainly cause for satisfaction. It is a valuable point, particularly for building confidence as preparations continue.
