Mika Godts, a 21-year-old forward for Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to Ligue1+ following PSG’s 2-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais this Sunday at the Parc des Princes, as part of the 8th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season.
Godts: “I’ve been working hard.”
A sense of relief, finally, with this goal?
Yes, I’m happy—really happy. I’ve been working hard. I came on, played my game, and tried to help the team. It feels good to score.
What was going through your mind when you took the shot?
When Quentin (Ndjantou) had the ball, I knew I’d have some space, so I moved into it. It turned into a one-on-one, and I had the room to do whatever I wanted.
Do you look for one-on-one situations whenever you have the ball?
Yes—in that instance, I knew I had space, so I looked to play quickly, take the shot, and score.
Godts: “When the coach needs me, I’m ready.”
Did you feel that this was a crucial moment, given the injuries—was that on your mind, or did you stay calm? Did you just focus on your work?
I’m staying calm; I’m here for the long haul. I work hard every single day. When the coach needs me, I’m ready. I’ll keep working hard and helping the team.
Is this the start of something—is the confidence there?
Yes, it’s always been there, even before the goal. I’ll keep working hard.
