On Wednesday evening, the Paris Saint-Germain and Eintracht Frankfurt women’s teams faced off at the PSG Campus in the return leg of the 2026-2027 Women’s Champions League preliminary round (following a 1-1 draw in the first leg). After PSG secured qualification with a 5-1 aggregate win (1-1, followed by extra time), Paris coach Paulo César spoke to PSG TV.
Paulo César: “We deserved this qualification.”
A great evening?
Exactly, it was a great evening, even though it was tough because we were up against a very good team. We knew it would be complicated; that German mentality is impeccable right to the very end.
We also managed to score the necessary goals at the end of the match. We knew how to be patient, and then—with that energy, the fans, and the players showing an impeccable mindset—we deserved this victory. We deserved this qualification.
Paulo César: “The goal will be to do better than last season.”
Now, we have to move forward in the Champions League and see how we go, because the goal is to do better than last season (elimination in the league phase). We’ve made a good start.
