On Tuesday evening, the Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid women’s teams faced off at the PSG Campus in the opening matchday of the 2026-2027 Women’s Champions League. Following PSG’s 1-1 draw, Paris coach Paulo César spoke to PSG TV.
Paulo César: “The goal was to start better than last season, and we did.”
A good draw?
The goal was to start better than last season, and we did. It’s a positive result. It’s a shame we didn’t start well; we were a bit sloppy technically. After that, we controlled the game well and created chances—as did they. I want to congratulate my players; they gave it their all today to secure this draw, which is very important for the rest of the campaign.
Paulo César: “They believe right to the very end.”
What are you most proud of?
Their courage and character. They believe right to the very end. The players who came off the bench also did the job to secure that 1-1 draw. We had the chance to make it 2-1 but didn’t take it; still, I am very proud and very happy with everything they showed today.
