The second matchday of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase took place this week. Following the matches, UEFA held several fan polls. Paris Saint-Germain—who secured a 4-2 victory against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium—had a player in the running for the Player of the Week award. The competition included Bradley Barcola (a 24-year-old forward for Liverpool), Nicolo Tresoldi (a 22-year-old forward for Club Brugge), Lamine Yamal (a 19-year-old forward for FC Barcelona), and Harry Kane (a 33-year-old forward for Bayern Munich). Barcola emerged as the winner.
A fine victory that is far from surprising. Even though there was stiff competition—not only from the three other players mentioned but from many others throughout the week—Barcola scored a hat-trick. It was a particularly remarkable performance given that these were his first goals for the Reds; that certainly makes it memorable.
