In Matchday 6 of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Le Mans at the Parc des Princes and secured a 3-1 victory. Speaking to PSG TV, 24-year-old midfielder Maghnes Akliouche commented on the win.
Akliouche: “It’s great to score that first goal.”
“We know that coming back after the international break is never easy, and that this could have been a tricky match. But today, we’re happy to take the three points. It’s important to restart with a win. Scoring my first goal for Paris Saint-Germain was important for me. I hope there will be more; that’s the goal.
On the play itself, I acted on instinct. I engaged the opposing defender—as I often do—and saw some space in front of me, so I took a chance. It’s great to score that first goal. Now, there are some very important matches coming up, and we’re already focused on those.”
Returning from the international break is never easy for PSG, given the number of international players in the squad. After a lackluster first half—despite Paris opening the scoring via a penalty—the visitors managed to get back into the game. It wasn’t until the second half that Luis Enrique’s men truly took control, creating numerous chances and converting two of them into goals.
Credit must also go to the opposition, who managed to play out from the back, play positive football, and cause the Parisians quite a few problems under the circumstances. This is a good result just before the Champions League return leg against Manchester City, and above all, three very important points for climbing the standings.
