This Friday, Paris Saint-Germain released an official statement announcing some very bad news: both Rasheedat Ajibade (a 26-year-old forward) and Anaïs Ebayilin (an 18-year-old midfielder) have sustained injuries that will keep them sidelined for several weeks.
Both players will require surgery.
“Rasheedat Ajibade, who was injured during the Nigerian national team’s recent match against Comoros, has suffered a fibula fracture. Our forward will soon undergo surgery performed by one of the club’s specialist surgeons, after which she will begin her rehabilitation under the care of the Paris Saint-Germain medical team.
Anaïs Ebayilin has sustained a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee. Our midfielder will begin a prehabilitation phase before undergoing surgery as soon as possible.”
These are major setbacks, as both are key players who will now miss a significant portion of the season. While head coach Paulo César has other options within his squad to continue pursuing the team’s objectives, the group is undeniably weakened.
Naturally, this is also a very difficult time for both players. For Ebayilin, in particular, it comes just as she was beginning to establish herself within the French national team setup. It is a significant blow for both her and Ajibade. We wish them both strength and a full recovery.
