Nuno Mendes, the 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain left-back, had to leave the pitch during Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Strasbourg (Matchday 7 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season) due to physical discomfort. This has raised concerns ahead of Tuesday’s home match against FC Barcelona (Matchday 3 of the Champions League). According to Le Parisien, the situation for the Portuguese international is clear:
“Nuno Mendes is expected to be sidelined for Tuesday’s Champions League encounter at the Parc des Princes due to a muscular injury in his thigh.”
Unfortunately, this report is highly credible. It stands to reason, given the limited recovery time between the two matches—especially since the clash with Barça promises to be an intense affair. There is no reason to take any risks, particularly at this stage of the season.
That said, there is still a glimmer of hope, as this is not an official statement from the club—and such reports have occasionally proven inaccurate in recent years. Nevertheless, the chances of Nuno Mendes featuring appear very slim.
