For several years, Paris Saint-Germain’s quest for a larger stadium has been a major topic of discussion and debate. There was talk of renovations at the Parc des Princes, but as the club owns the stadium, negotiations with the City of Paris stalled. So, the project to build a new stadium, either in Massy or Poissy, was officially launched. But Emmanuel Grégoire, who was Anne Hidalgo’s deputy mayor and is now a candidate for mayor himself, is trying to revive the idea of staying at the Parc des Princes, according to Le Journal du Dimanche.

“PSG in Poissy? It’s not happening, neither today nor tomorrow.”

Unfortunately, that’s all the quote from Le Journal du Dimanche offers, so we wonder how much hope Grégoire really has, and what kind of plan he has, for PSG to stay at the Parc des Princes. We’re skeptical, given how stuck the situation seemed, with the Parisian club seemingly moving on to other options. A truly compelling offer would be needed, which seemed unlikely. The media outlet mentions a sale, a long-term lease, or renovations paid for by the club. But there’s nothing concrete, no real progress.

A last-minute twist isn’t impossible, but it would be a surprise today. Especially since we can’t always trust politicians’ statements, which are often designed to project a positive image. Here, this could be an attempt to… que « lui » voulait garder le PSG et qu’il n’est pas responsable du départ.
