The draw for the Club World Cup (June 15 to July 13) took place on Thursday, with Atlético Madrid, Botafogo and Seattle as Paris Saint-Germain’s opponents. Parisian president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi spoke to PSG TV about it.
Al-Khelaïfi “It’s an interesting group, we’ll have to be ready.”
A difficult group for PSG?
It’s an interesting group. These are important matches with 3 good teams. We know Atlético Madrid, a historic team. Then there’s Botafogo, who just won the Copa Libertadores. I’m also thinking of Seattle, who will be at home with their supporters. It’s an interesting group, and we’ll have to be ready.
Al-Khelaïfi “It’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere, we’re very excited.”
What does it mean to be part of this competition?
It’s a historic draw, a historic day. We’re proud to be part of this new Club World Cup. Everyone wants to be part of it. It really starts today, and we’re very excited. We can’t wait to get started.
A great opportunity to connect with fans in the USA?
Yes, we’ve never played an official match in this country, only friendlies. We’ve got fans there, so we’ll be playing in their homes too. That’s fantastic. And we’ll also have supporters who’ll be traveling for the competition. It’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere, and we’re very excited.
