Ademola Lookman, the 27-year-old forward from Atalanta and Nigeria, was one of the most talked-about names in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2024 summer transfer window. In the end, he didn’t make the move. Yet PSG had indeed taken concrete steps. Gianluca Percassi, CEO of the Italian club, revisited the matter during a press conference, amid current tensions with the player—who is now being targeted notably by Inter Milan.
“The agreement with Lookman was made a year ago, when we refused a €20 million offer from PSG. We told him: we will let you go in 2025 to a very top-level club, and not to Italy. Now, the situation [with Inter] is different… and as always, it’s up to us to decide.”
PSG had indeed made a concrete move for Lookman, with the aim of strengthening their attack with this versatile player. But Atalanta shut the door, at least at that price, while Paris waited for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24), who eventually signed during the winter window from Napoli—although it might have been possible to recruit both.
In any case, the move didn’t happen and there is currently nothing in that direction. However, Percassi’s statement could be seen as opening the door, since a move to PSG would fit the agreed criteria. Still, PSG would need to come back into the race. Nothing is impossible, especially as another attacking signing wouldn’t be unreasonable, but that hasn’t been the trend lately
