Vitinha, the 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain and Portugal midfielder, spoke to the media after Sunday evening’s Nations League win over Spain (2-2, 5-3 on aggregate). He was asked about the Ballon d’Or 2025, the Club World Cup and a particularly happy period for him.
Vitinha “I certainly don’t think so. I leave that to people.”
“Ballon d’Or?
I certainly don’t think so. I leave that to people. Because the most important thing is collective trophies and collective work. And it’s only after that that the individual side comes in.
Vitinha “we’re also going to give it our all to win now, celebrate and enjoy.”
Is winning the Club World Cup your next objective?
It’s true, in everything we’ve played for, PSG and I have won everything. The Club World Cup is still to come, and we’re going to rest as much as we can to be in top form for the Club World Cup.
But it’s difficult, it’s a very long season, with a lot of wear and tear. As long as there are no injuries, I think it’s a victory. But we’re also going to give everything we’ve got to win now, celebrate and enjoy it.
A magical time?
It’s been a dream week. I think I’ll remember it for the rest of my life. I’ve won three matches in a row here in one week, two titles. And the titles I’ve won are incredible.” Paris SG Infos reports.
We appreciate this collective mentality that never changes. Vitinha could have his say for the Ballon d’Or, like a large part of the PSG squad. And that’s the most important thing. The team won. Then, everyone can have a preference and the votes for the Ballon d’Or will take place.
But the Portuguese and his Parisian team-mates don’t really have time to waste with these reflections. There’s still a trophy to play for before a well-deserved vacation. Of course, the aim will be to win yet another title in order to complete a season with all the titles won. But Vitinha is not forgetting his tiredness, and stresses that a competition without any physical problems would already be good news. A sign of a very long year.
But that doesn’t take anything away from the happiness of the PSG and Portuguese midfielder. He’s won a string of trophies, and you’d almost forget the Coupe de France final on May 24. It’s beautiful, you have to enjoy it to the full. You never know when a period like this will come around again.
