On Wednesday evening, Bayern Munich hosted Paris Saint-Germain for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final. Both teams were warned after a first leg unanimously hailed as historic: the return leg would be difficult and could turn at any moment. Despite a superior level of physical freshness at the end of the match compared to PSG, the Munich side lost on aggregate (5-6), after equalizing (1-1) in the dying moments. Paris thus reaches its second consecutive final and will play for history once again against Arsenal on May 30, 2026. Willian Pacho, PSG’s central defender, reflected on this qualification and the incredibly tough match:
Willian Pacho: “What defines us is our mentality.”
PSG is back in the final, it’s incredible!
Yes, of course, we’re very happy, we’re back in the final. I’m very happy with the team’s commitment; we have a very strong team. It was very important, and I’m very happy to have won this match and to be in the final.
A team capable of suffering and resisting?
Yes, I think that’s what characterizes us; it’s our mentality. We know how to defend as a group and as a team. The attackers help us a lot, and we help them attack; that’s what makes the difference.
