Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker, spoke to PSG TV after PSG’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea (8-2 on aggregate, quarter-final to be played against Liverpool or Galatasaray) on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League Round of 16 tie (second leg on March 17).
Kvaratskhelia: “We are very happy tonight, but we have to keep this momentum going.”
“We are very happy to have won this match against Chelsea. The atmosphere was incredible. I think the first goal was very important because we started the match very well. We are very happy tonight, but we have to keep this momentum going. We know there are still many matches to play, so we have to continue preparing for the upcoming games.”
Kvaratskhelia: “They didn’t stop cheering us on for 90 minutes.”
“The fans? We can only thank them! They were incredible. They didn’t stop cheering us on for 90 minutes. They help us enormously, and we are very proud to have fans like them!”
A prestigious victory for PSG, who left their opponents no chance despite the second leg being away from home. At Stamford Bridge, after the 5-2 home defeat, Chelsea were understandably eager for revenge. A Champions League match away from home, regardless of the first-leg result, is never easy.
But the Parisians’ mental strength allowed them to approach this match with great composure and determination. This also enabled them to quickly take the lead and, above all, to completely extinguish London’s hopes in this Round of 16 tie.
A remarkable and reassuring performance for PSG, who have nonetheless shown some inconsistency in recent weeks. But it gives enormous hope to the defending champions and their ability to win a second star.
