Paris Saint-Germain faced Arsenal at the Puskas Arena on Saturday in the 2026 Champions League final (1-1, 3-4 on penalties). Speaking to PSG TV, 25-year-old striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia reflected on this historic victory.
Kvaratskhelia: “We are so proud tonight.”
“It’s a fantastic feeling. I was so tired, but at the final whistle, I found the strength and managed to sprint! We did it, thank you to the fans, the club, the coach, and my teammates. We are so proud tonight. We have to keep going in this direction. We’ll have to try to win again next season.”
A somewhat uneventful match, but a legendary result for PSG, who secured their second star. After the Gunners opened the scoring early in the game, things looked bleak for the Parisian club, who struggled to break down the English defense.
Fortunately, the intensity they displayed in the second half allowed PSG to get back into the game and equalize. The penalty shootout may have shortened the life expectancy of Parisian fans, but it also allowed them to make European football history.
This Saturday, May 30th, PSG joins the very exclusive club of clubs to have achieved back-to-back titles. Now, they must savor this achievement and thank the players, coach, and staff for everything they have accomplished over the past three seasons.
