Reims coach Luka Elsner was at a press conference last weekend. He was asked about the case of Gabriel Moscardo, the 19-year-old midfielder on loan from Paris Saint-Germain who has yet to set foot on the pitch with his club. According to the 42-year-old Slovenian coach, Moscardo is not fully ready to take on the challenges of Ligue 1, but is working towards it. Elsner also explained that he was counting on him and had confidence in his player to come in and help the team quickly.
Elsner “ He’s working hard to get there”.
“He was penalized by an injury very early on without really having done any preparation, and he also has to adapt to Ligue 1, to the intensity of duels and the space available. He’s aware of this, we often talk about it, and we’re working to make progress on these points; he’s making great efforts to do so.
Elsner “ He’s an important resource for the club”.
Even if he hasn’t appeared yet, he represents an important resource for the club […] He’s progressing, and we hope to be able to put him in a situation quickly so that he can show the full extent of his talent. He’s still a young player, with a special profile.
I don’t manage contracts, but what I do know is that we need all our resources, and as soon as he’s in a position to help us, we won’t hold back. The key is to communicate effectively and move forward together. The time will come, and I’m pretty confident.”
Moscardo is an important PSG asset, but his loan isn’t going as planned. He’s not playing, and that’s a big problem. Loaned out to gain playing time, that’s still not the case and it’s cause for concern. Of course, Parisian fans, renowned for their impatience, are crying transfer scandal.
But we have to give it time, and we’re delighted that Reims is not taking any risks to break the player in a league renowned for its physicality and difficulty. Elsner continues to have confidence in the player, as do Luis Enrique and Luis Campos for the future. We hope to see him soon at the end of 2024.
