Kheira Hamraoui, a 35-year-old midfielder for Al-Hilal SC, left Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 after two difficult years. Assaulted by several individuals, Hamraoui’s life changed in an instant. She regrets that her club did not support her and, worse, treated her with indifference. This led her to file a lawsuit seeking €3.5 million in damages. This Tuesday, however, the labor court ruled in favor of PSG. Her lawyer, Mr. Garbarini, announced to L’Equipe that an appeal has been filed.
“I remain optimistic because I know my case.”
“We will appeal this decision and we will present our case before the Court. I remain optimistic because I know my case; I know that the repeated actions by the club against my client, which caused this psychological harassment, exist, and we will therefore highlight them.”
I am disappointed that the labor court failed to fully appreciate all the evidence we presented in Ms. Hamraoui’s defense and to secure a conviction against PSG for psychological harassment. However, we knew that if the labor court had ruled in her favor, PSG would have appealed.
It’s a disappointment because we were hoping this very long case would finally be over. Especially since it’s an unpleasant situation, with a particularly negative context. And it’s difficult to assess the situation from the outside. Logically, each side is defending itself, and it’s hard to get a clear picture.
We can understand that Hamraoui’s camp wants to exhaust all possibilities with this appeal. PSG would probably have done the same. Now, we can only hope that the case doesn’t drag on for months more.
