This Friday, April 3rd, as Paris Saint-Germain hosts Toulouse at the Parc des Princes at 8:45 PM (CET) for Matchday 28 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, there’s also a small event to celebrate: the birthday of midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who turns 30 today.
Having arrived in 2022 from Napoli, Fabian Ruiz has had a difficult time adapting to PSG. He wasn’t helped by a somewhat shaky team during his first season, as he had to adapt to the changes implemented by coach Luis Enrique starting in 2023. The Spanish midfielder quickly earned his coach’s trust as part of the revitalized project.
While he was named best player of Euro 2024 with Spain, there was a feeling for a while that Ruiz was performing better for the national team than at PSG. This frustration grew, but the player quickly dispelled it with outstanding performances that highlighted his importance to the team’s fluidity. Generally avoiding flashy moves, Ruiz is essential for balance, contributing intelligently and technically.
Far from the criticism, the midfielder is now under intense scrutiny, especially as he has been sidelined with a knee injury since January 20th. His return seems imminent, and we hope it’s confirmed. And happy birthday, of course.
