This Friday at 8:45pm (CET) Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face Toulouse (9th) at the Parc des Princes as part of the 28th matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. In a press conference, Toulouse striker Aron Donnum (27 years old) spoke about the upcoming match and their Parisian opponents with a very positive outlook. He also addressed the issue of the referee’s announcement system.
Donnum: “It’s good to explain, but there are always people who disagree.”
Regarding the referee’s announcement system, do you have any special preparation?
No (smiles). I didn’t even know!
Do you think this referee announcement system is a good thing? Especially for the fans.
Honestly, people will always want more. There have already been a lot of changes in the last 15 years. Everyone is trying to make things better, but there will always be something. We’ll see. As players, it doesn’t change anything. It’s good. It’s not like the fans are going to say, “Ah, with the explanation, everything’s fine.” It’s good to explain, but there are always people who disagree.
Donnum: “It’s a fun match, it’s cool to play against PSG.”
Is PSG a bonus match or just another game? We lost 3-6 in the first leg.
It’s a fun match, it’s cool to play against PSG. They’re very strong. We’ve shown we can score. Two years ago, we won there, even though they were already champions. We have to learn from the last match. We scored three goals; we have to see how to avoid conceding so many. It will be tough, but we’ve worked hard. We want to play well defensively and we hope to score.
Is Toulouse better as an underdog?
Maybe, maybe. Two years ago, it was very clear. Against the big teams, we were very strong. Against the teams around us, we lost more. It’s more balanced now. Our best matches are still against the big teams, like Marseille and Lyon away from home.
Donnum: “We prepare for that and to take advantage of the opportunities.”
In a match where PSG is likely to have the least possession, you’re likely to face a lot of speed on the wings. How do you prepare as a striker?
It’s one of the easiest matches to prepare for. They’re one of the teams that has the most possession, and we know we won’t have much of it. Even when they lost against Monaco, they had around 70% possession. That’s how it is when we face PSG at the Parc des Princes. We prepare for that and to take advantage of any opportunities we might have, so we can fully exploit them.
