Former 1998 World Champion Thierry Henry praised 25-year-old Vitinha on CBS Sport. For him, it’s clear that he’s on a completely different level to PSG legend Marco Verratti. Something that wasn’t clear to everyone, but the credit goes to Luis Enrique and his choices.
Henry “When people talk, you have to keep your promises. They spoke and they kept their promises”.
“For me, Luis Enrique showed great courage in letting Marco Verratti go, because he saw something in Vitinha. For me, Vitinha is on a different level to Marco Verratti. When people talk, you have to keep your promises. They talked and they kept their promises.”
Verratti is Verratti, and who knows at what level he could have played with Luis Enrique. In the current climate, the hype surrounding the PSG has inevitably raised Vitinha’s performance to a whole new level. It’s difficult to compare, especially as they didn’t play for the same PSG. Verratti had to plug huge holes on the pitch, whereas Vitinha is part of a perfectly-oiled team where everyone pulls their weight. We’re not going to invent a comparison that makes no sense, but rather pay tribute to what the Little Owl has done, as well as to what Vitinha has been showing us for months now.
