In an interview with Bild, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, discussed the new project. He admitted that Qatar is gradually disengaging from France in favor of other, more “welcoming” markets. However, he insists that QSI does not want to leave PSG.
“The disinvestment mentioned: beIN Sports has chosen not to offer 700M for national TV rights. And future investments, some of which are already in the pipeline, will also be made outside France.”
Al-Khelaïfi “If anyone wants to take a look, we’ve been gradually withdrawing for several years now”.
On closer inspection, PSG is just one part of the Qatari investment. Inevitably, as soon as the idea of a withdrawal emerges, it’s PSG that comes to mind. However, in addition to the club de la capitale, Qatar had begun to invest heavily in France, starting with beIN Sport and other investments here and there.
PSG’s president confirmed that the State of Qatar would be putting its marbles elsewhere for future investments, in addition to withdrawing with the sports channel. However, PSG does not seem to be part of this equation, as Al-Khelaïfi insists.
The investment with the capital club is not over, especially as a stadium project is emerging and the training center has just been completed. Qatar intends to further increase the value of its assets with PSG.
