Jesé, the 31-year-old Real Madrid-trained striker from Johor Darul Ta’zim (Malaysia) who spent time with Paris Saint-Germain (and numerous loans) between 2016 and 2020, has spoken bitterly about his experience at the Parisian club. Speaking to Mowlihawk on Youtube, the former Spanish international expressed his views.
Jesé “I thought I was going to play in Paris”.
“If I’d wanted to, I’d have stayed in Madrid, but the PSG option came up. What’s more, I wasn’t getting much playing time, so I thought I’d play in Paris.
The coach was Unai Emery, and it was he who called me. Real Madrid had recruited a lot of players, but I wanted to go to the Euros, and I was very close to going to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Del Bosque was going to call me up, but I was injured. What’s more, PSG paid me a lot more. And don’t forget that at Real Madrid I was already earning a lot.
Jesé “At PSG, he’s a billionaire who uses players like pogs”.
At PSG, I started by making the winning assist in my first game, but then I was knocked out for two months with appendicitis. In January they told me I had to leave. I told Emery that I felt I’d been had.
The president didn’t even want to see me in paint. I don’t know whether he preferred my wife or me. They gave me no explanation. You could earn a lot of money, yes, but they treated me really badly.
That’s when I realized that Real Madrid is the best club in the world in every respect. At PSG, it’s a guy who’s a billionaire and who uses players like pogs”.
If you look up the expression “spitting in the soup” in the dictionary, you’ll probably find Jesé. It’s true that the club doesn’t always have the right attitude towards its players and even its legends, but it’s more a case of personal frustration than anything else.
He hasn’t left his mark on Real, PSG or any other club. A little humility is always welcome, from great players of course, and even more so from players whose careers are so far removed from their early hopes.
The Spanish striker was unlucky enough to suffer a serious knee injury at Real Madrid and never quite made it back. PSG gave him a chance to get back on track, but he has been very disappointing.
Jesé should accept this and not overemphasize the money he’s earned without doing much. It’s sad to see such comments, even if they will no doubt please Real in Spain.
