Presnel Kimpembe, the 30-year-old defender who came up through the Paris Saint-Germain youth system and left for Qatar SC in 2025 after falling out of favor following two years of very limited playing time due to injuries, spoke to RMC Sport on the sidelines of the release of his book, “Strength, Falling and Getting Back Up.” He was notably asked about coach Luis Enrique. The Parisian native shared some very strong words about his last coach at PSG, who is still in charge.
Kimpembe: “I thanked him for his honesty and for the work he does.”
“Luis Enrique is the pinnacle. I didn’t have the chance to really get to know him as a player on a daily basis. Many might think I don’t like him because I didn’t play or something. But the truth is, I don’t.” When we spoke, I told him, “Thank you for your honesty, thank you for your discipline, and for the work you do every day.”
The truth is, if PSG is where it is today, it’s partly thanks to him. I had a different role. I knew the club needed me to help and support the players. That’s what I did every day. My role was different from that of a player on the pitch, but I took it to heart. That’s what the coach asked of me, and that’s why I was always there for the team.
