Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint-Germain’s 27-year-old right wing-back, spoke to Ligue1+ following PSG’s 1-0 defeat to Lens this Sunday at the Stade Bollaert in the 2026 Trophée des Champions.
Hakimi: “We should have played under the same conditions.”
You aren’t used to losing. How do you view this match in hindsight?
I think we did everything to win; we created chances and controlled the whole game. But there were situations we couldn’t control—coming to play on a pitch that wasn’t neutral. There were no fans [of ours], yet it was a final, so I think we should have played under the same conditions.
These aren’t excuses; we did everything to win, but unfortunately, we didn’t score the goal—which is the most important thing. Still, in the end, I’m happy with the team’s work.
Hakimi: “If we want our league to keep growing, we need to look at this.”
Did the Lens crowd have an impact?
I think when you play a final, it should be on neutral ground. Half the stadium with our fans and the other half with the opposing fans. Today, it felt more like an away game in Ligue 1. If we want our league to keep growing, we need to look at this. These aren’t excuses, and we’ll keep working.
Hakimi: “We want to get up to speed as quickly as possible.”
Aside from the finishing, we could see you’re in good form?
No, no—we’re trying to get up to speed. Some players arrived very late, and we haven’t had much training time. So, the matches themselves are our training sessions. We played a match on Wednesday and had to recover; this is a time of the season when we try to do that as quickly as possible. We want to get back to full fitness as soon as we can, and that is our goal now as we move forward.
