Today, I think we deserved more than this result, but that’s football. Football isn’t always fair—you have to score goals. I think we earned this point.
You might think two points from two games isn’t much, but when you consider the results we got last year at Rennes and Lille, we actually gained an extra point from these two fixtures combined. We’re trying to stay positive; clearly, we need to improve and perform at a higher level. But I think today, the team showed its ability to fight until the very last minute.”
A late comeback for the Parisian side, who managed a miraculous escape after trailing for the majority of the match. There is still a great deal to improve upon at this early stage of the season. The players aren’t fully match-fit yet, and the squad has undergone—and will continue to undergo—numerous changes, which disrupts the preparation process. Ultimately, however, the key takeaway is the team’s mental strength.
Just like in the match against Rennes (2-2), the Parisians managed to fight back after trailing 2-0. It is a significant trait that bodes very well for the future. Despite its current weaknesses, this team always steps up and manages to fight right to the final minute to secure a result. These first two away games have therefore been very positive, but a home win against Monaco next Friday would also be a great confidence booster.
