Achraf Hakimi, the 27-year-old right wing-back for Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to Canal+/PSG TV at the post-match press conference following PSG’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool (Liverpool/PSG highlights) on Tuesday at Anfield in the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League quarter-final (4-0 on aggregate).
Dembélé: “We needed that composure to score and win.”
Is scoring two goals at Anfield and qualifying for the semi-finals a special feeling?
The two matches are always different; in a stadium like that, it’s always difficult. We came here for this victory, to continue with the same mentality. The most important thing is to advance. We know they’re a tough team; we suffered in the second half. But we needed that composure to score and win.
Dembélé: “When we play as a team, we’re difficult to beat.”
How did you regain your balance?
The first part of the season was difficult. We had a tough group in the Champions League and very little vacation time. We needed to play together, to rediscover that team spirit. That’s the most important thing: to play together, to fight together. We know we have incredible players. When we play as a team, we’re hard to beat. The most important thing is to play together, for PSG.
Dembélé: “We know we can do it.”
Can you still win the title?
That’s the goal. When we prepare for the season, the goal is to win every trophy. We know we can do it, even if it’s difficult. We’ll have a great team to face in the Champions League. But the mentality is still to score and win.
Where’s the Ballon d’Or?
In front of the TV, like the trophies when I was a kid (laughs).
