On Tuesday, in the second leg of the 2025-2026 Champions League quarter-finals, Paris Saint-Germain faced Liverpool at Anfield. After a hard-fought match, the Parisians emerged victorious with a 2-0 win (4-0 on aggregate). Here are our player ratings for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Matvey Safonov (8) – Some excellent saves and some welcome aerial interventions. He could have been more cautious in his distribution, less focused on attacking play, but that might be a set of instructions.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (5.5) – He focused primarily on defense, which is unusual for him, and wasn’t particularly dominant. It wasn’t a bad match either.
Marquinhos (7) – He had to fight hard, but the Parisian captain was up to the task. Notably, he made a crucial sliding tackle in the first half that prevented a 1-0 lead.
Willian Pacho (7.5) – It’s a good thing he’s there to bail us out when PSG are struggling. His composure and aggression are a real asset.
Nuno Mendes (6) – Very solid defensively and offensively, he had to leave the pitch in the 39th minute due to a muscle problem. Replaced by Lucas Hernandez (5.5). He has a lot of defensive work to do; we didn’t really see him on the ball.
Midfielders –
Joao Neves (7.5) – A tremendous performance from João Neves, one of the few PSG players still making an impact during this difficult period. He made numerous defensive interventions and provided crucial moments for PSG to catch their breath.
Vitinha (6) – He shone in the first half before fading in the second.
Warren Zaïre-Emery (6) – Valuable in the physical battle, but less so in possession. Replaced by Lucas Beraldo in the 81st minute. It’s difficult to rate him for ten minutes; he attempted some nice passes but lacked precision.
Forwards –
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (4) – A fairly good first half, but he then struggled, losing possession far too often. He did, however, provide the assist for Ousmane Dembélé’s opening goal.
Ousmane Dembélé (7) – A difficult match against a PSG side that wasn’t always in control, but he gave his all and, most importantly, scored a beautiful goal that was a huge boost. He then added a brace late in the game.
Désiré Doué (4) – A tough evening for Doué, who had to fight hard to escape the pressure. He put in a lot of effort and went off injured in the 53rd minute when he seemed to be improving. Replaced by Bradley Barcola (6). He made some runs in behind, but received few passes. It’s difficult to truly judge him. He provided the assist for the second goal.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (7) – We were hoping for a more controlled PSG performance, but we also have to respect the level of the opposition. Winning at Anfield is no small feat. His team held firm, dominated at times, and could have been more comfortable in the first half.
