Lucas Hernandez, 28-year-old defender for Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team, was injured at the end of last season in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund. Unfortunately, he ruptured the anterior ligament in his left knee and was not expected back until 2015. But there’s been hope of late, as he’s been with the squad. This Wednesday’supdate from L’Equipe urges caution.
” He’s a bit early.
“Lucas Hernandez is right on schedule. He’s even a little ahead of schedule. The Frenchman made his return to collective training this Tuesday at the PSG Campus. He can’t take part in all the exercises yet, but his return to competition is becoming clearer.
The 2018 world champion’s sensations are as good as ever, and the hope of playing a few minutes before Christmas is still there, even if the club’s technical and medical staff won’t be taking any risks.
“ No date has been set for his return to competition.”
As with Presnel Kimpembe, who is recovering from a double Achilles tendon injury, PSG will now monitor the evolution of his sensations while continuing to increase their workload. No date has been set for his return to competition.”
Hernandez is recovering very well and we’re trusting him to put all the chances on his side. But we also need to be patient and cautious with the return of such an injury. We can’t let all the hard work of the last few months go to waste.
So he’s taking things one step at a time, and we know that the Parisian staff won’t do anything crazy. The idea of a return to competition as early as November has been put forward by some, but it’s too early.
We hope that the defender will soon be able to work fully with the group and gradually get closer to competition. Before Christmas, that would already be a great victory.
