Sadio Mané, the 33-year-old Senegal and Al-Nassr striker, was in the mixed zone after the 3-1 victory against Sudan on Saturday in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He was notably asked to comment on the goal scored by Ibrahim Mbaye, the 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker.
Mané: “We’re all happy for him”
“It’s a pleasure to give him a pass. I think we know each other very well. When I saw him, his speed was incredible. I just had to put it in front of him. He capitalized on the defender’s mistake. He scored the goal. We’re all happy for him.”
Mané had already been very complimentary recently, and Mbaye can only be delighted with such support. And the connection on the pitch is certainly beneficial for the team. It can also help the young player shine, since he’s being well served by a great player. He made the most of that opportunity, and we wish him continued success.
His rise this season, both at PSG and with the national team, has been exciting. It remains to be seen how far he can go. There are still significant obstacles to overcome to achieve the career he hopes for, given his talent.
