On Sunday evening, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Paris FC 2-1 in Matchday 17 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season at the Parc des Princes. Here are the highs and lows of this victory.
Highs –
❤️ Dembélé and Doué score.
Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old forward) and Désiré Doué (20-year-old midfielder/forward) were sidelined with injuries for much of the first half of the season. They now need to regain their rhythm and confidence. Seeing them both in the starting lineup is a positive sign, especially with a goal each. Let’s hope this momentum continues. It will help PSG become more incisive.
Willian Pacho
The 24-year-old defender is a rock who consistently delivers, displaying unwavering composure and an aggression that frustrates opposing attackers. He cut out Paris FC’s few opportunities and allowed PSG to finish comfortably.
Lows –
😡 The pace
PSG can’t always dominate their opponents, but we were hoping for a bit more intensity and creativity. There was a sense of simply managing the game, while PFC seemed primarily focused on not conceding any more goals. This goes hand in hand with a very defensive approach from the outset. Kick-off. It was a bit of a drag. Let’s hope Paris can step up their game for the rest of the season.
Chants and threats of a stoppage.
As before or during every match against Olympique de Marseille, the Parc des Princes was filled with chants deemed discriminatory, and the threat of a stoppage was raised. This only ever seems to happen on the Parisian side. The fans are annoyed and are provoking. A situation that’s ultimately pointless.
That’s all…
Sadly, there’s nothing else that particularly stood out for us. This restart in 2026 and this first major Parisian derby will probably not be remembered.
