Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 28-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, has been struggling of late and has been rather sidelined by coach Luis Enrique. So the idea of a mercato departure is taking hold. Estadio Deportivo reported on Monday that Real Sociedad are interested in a loan deal.
It’s not impossible, as Asensio has great qualities and could well be of interest to the current 7th-placed team in La Liga. He could also relaunch his career in a league he knows well. It’s at least a sensible idea, given that there’s clearly little room for him at PSG.
However, nothing is certain at the moment. These are just rumours, and there are still many possible outcomes. There’s nothing concrete, and even the Spaniard’s departure is not certain. Even if it is possible. Paris will also need to keep some players to cope with a very busy schedule. Or else they’ll have to recruit, which isn’t a given either at the moment.
