Joshua Kimmich, the 30-year-old right-sided midfielder under contract to Bayern Munich until 2025, was rumored to be in the sights of Paris Saint-Germain during the 2024 summer mercato, and now he’s back for 2025 despite still not having extended his contract. This Thursday, Bild and Fabrizio Romano report that the player is set to sign a contract extension with the German club.
Although Bild is not the world’s most reliable media outlet, Kimmich’s move to PSG was never really serious. It seems obvious that an extension at Bayern Munich is possible, while a move to the Parisian club seems more like a fan fantasy.
In soccer, you can’t swear by anything, but be careful when it comes to the mercato and announcements left and right. PSG could certainly strengthen its squad this summer, but we mustn’t forget that the transfer market is complex and full of unfounded rumors.
