Mohamed Salah, the 32-year-old Egyptian striker whose contract with Liverpool expires next June, has been rumoured to be in the sights of Paris Saint-Germain. In recent hours, the Egyptian international has even been said to be “open” to PSG. However, journalist Ben Jacobs asserts this Monday that there’s nothing to it.
“PSG are not currently negotiating with Mo Salah. Salah has a long-standing friendship with Nasser Al-Khelaifi, but the French champion has made no approach to date. Several sources believe that Salah is using PSG to put pressure on Liverpool.”
It’s a big blow, when some were already getting excited at the idea of Salah arriving at PSG. It’s not unthinkable yet, as it’s still a rumour and nothing is certain. But it’s enough to remind us that it’s by no means a done deal.
So let’s wait and see. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Salah finally extend his stay at Liverpool after what seems to be a series of rumours aimed at negotiating strategy.
