The conflict between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappé, its 25-year-old former striker, now a Real Madrid player since this summer 2024, continues. This Wednesday evening we learn that the Disciplinary Committee, at the request of Mbappé and his entourage, has decided not to take a decision on this case and therefore not to sanction PSG, as it explains in its press release.
“the Disciplinary Committee concluded that the appeal lodged by Mr. Kylian MBAPPE was inadmissible.”
“The LFP Disciplinary Regulations empower the Disciplinary Commission to impose sanctions in the event of non-execution of a decision against which no appeal has been lodged. Mr Kylian MBAPPE referred the matter to the Commission, following decisions by the Legal Committee and the Joint Appeals Committee.
As Paris Saint-Germain has since brought an action against the LFP before the Paris Court of First Instance, seeking the annulment of these two decisions, the Disciplinary Committee has ruled that Mr. Kylian MBAPPE’s appeal is inadmissible”.
Good news for PSG, who in turn responded in an official statement.
“the Club stands ready to fully expose the situation before the competent court.”
“We are very pleased that the Disciplinary Commission has decided not to sanction Paris Saint-Germain as the player had requested. By declaring his request inadmissible, the Disciplinary Commission has put an end to this sequence which has gone on for far too long.
(…) Should the player unfortunately persist in failing to meet his commitments and pursue this dispute before the Conseil des Prud’hommes in an incomprehensible and damaging manner, both for himself and for French soccer, the Club stands ready to fully expose the situation before the competent court. In law and in fact, the player has made clear and repeated public and private commitments which the Club simply asks that he honours, after having benefited from unprecedented advantages on the part of the Club for 7 years in Paris (…)”.
Unfortunately, this conflict doesn’t seem set to end just yet, but fortunately for PSG, decisions are gradually turning in their favor. Mbappé, who already seems to be in a difficult situation, clearly continues to sink into a conflict that is getting out of hand for him and his clan. This decision by the Disciplinary Committee is reassuring for the Parisian club, which is proving that it is within its rights and that it has the right arguments.
We’ll have to wait for the next episode to find out what happens next. On the whole, however, if the Parisian club is equipped to manage this conflict to the end, this will certainly not be the case for the player. Since his departure for Real Madrid, everything has turned sour, and a ruling against him would be a huge blow. We’ll have to wait and see what each side decides, but on the whole, this case marks the definitive divorce between a club and a player who was once adored by the fans.
