Grace Geyoro, the 28-year-old French national team midfielder who has been with Paris Saint-Germain since 2012, is leaving the Parisian club to join London City Lionesses. This transfer was officially announced today.
This is a significant moment for PSG and Geyoro, who has only ever played for this club professionally, having completed her youth academy training there. She has experienced all the emotions, the highs and lows, of the club’s journey. And the club itself is currently going through a rather turbulent period. This departure is part of that, with a very high-level player feeling disappointed by the lack of stability and the loss of her captaincy last year.
It’s a shame that this chapter of her career isn’t ending on a more positive note. But that’s football; you have to accept it. Geyoro wants to experience new things, and we can understand that. We also want to thank her for all these years of service. For PSG, this season must mark a turning point, a fresh start, and a positive rebuilding phase. At least, Paris has secured a record transfer fee in women’s football, at €1.65 million.
