The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) met to decide on the various sanctions to be imposed following recent matches in French professional football. Among the issues discussed was the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP), a Paris Saint-Germain supporters’ group that lit numerous flares and displayed banners during the match against Brest in Matchday 33 of Ligue 1. Unsurprisingly, the LFP decided to sanction the CUP by closing the Auteuil Stand.
“Matchday 33 of Ligue 1 McDonald’s: Paris Saint-Germain – Stade Brestois 29, Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Behavior of Paris Saint-Germain supporters: use of pyrotechnics and visual displays observed.
Closure of the Auteuil Stand at the Parc des Princes for one match.
This sanction will apply to the first home Ligue 1 McDonald’s match of the 2026/2027 season.”
We know that this ban on pyrotechnics is often contested by fans, but as long as the rule exists, it’s logical that the LFP (French Professional Football League) enforces its regulations. Given the number of flares lit during the match, with smoke that even impaired visibility, everyone knew a sanction would be imposed.
The Collectif Ultras Paris (Paris Ultras Collective) still chose to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The atmosphere will therefore be more subdued at the start of the 2026-2027 season at the Parc des Princes. Could this delay the presentation of any potential new signings?
