With the draw for the 2025-2026 Champions League league stage set to take place this Thursday at 6 p.m, UEFA has announced a significant change. The final will no longer be played at 9 p.m CET., but at 6 p.m. This is in favor of the fans, according to the competition’s organizing body.
These arguments are understandable, as fans will be able to more easily enjoy the match without staying up too late or having difficulty getting home. It’s also a schedule for children who would like to watch the game. However, it will be more complicated for those who work Saturdays or…who have custody of a young child and don’t want to expose them to a screen. Not to mention those who travel to the stadium and work on Fridays.
Not to mention that we’re thinking in European time, but this impacts other continents. Some are happy about it, especially in Asia. UEFA must have thought it through financially.
There are always advantages and disadvantages. In any case, it’s fixed and we’ll have to adapt.
