Ilya Zabarnyi, a 22-year-old defender from Ukraine, joined Paris Saint-Germain from Bournemouth during the summer transfer window on a contract until 2030. The Ukrainian’s number had not been announced, but it was revealed on the club’s official website: it is number 6.
A number steeped in football tradition, though less common for a defender. But more conventional options were unavailable, and Zabarnyi didn’t go looking for an original number. We wish him all the best and hope he enjoys many great moments with the number 6 at PSG.
