Willian Pacho, the 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender, spoke to Agence France Presse about the criticism levelled at the Paris club by observers, as well as the competition in Ligue 1 and the quality of the league.
Pacho “ They say that now, but then they’ll want to get on the train when we’re launched.”
“Many observers doubt PSG’s chances of winning the Champions League, what do you say to them?
I don’t like this criticism and negativity. But I don’t take it into account. I’m sure we’ll have a great season. And they say that now, but then they’ll want to get on the train when we get going. We just have to concentrate on ourselves, be a family and ignore everything else.
Pacho “ It’s very tactical, so you always have to be on your guard”.
In L1, on the other hand, you’re first and unbeaten. Is this championship too easy?
Oh no, it’s really difficult. Above all, our opponents change the way they play when they come up against us. The players are very physical and fast. It’s very tactical, and you always have to be on your guard.
There’s some truth to it, of course, PSG are better than the competition, but nothing’s easy, you have to fight every weekend against physical teams who want to be in the lead. In the Champions League, PSG certainly have fewer points of reference, but rather than comparing results, we must continue to trust and look at the content.
Between the match against PSV and the one against OM or Strasbourg, PSG only missed out in terms of finishing, and they had no trouble putting the Dutch to the sword. So, there are a few details to be ironed out, but we mustn’t throw everything away and rise above the prism of the result.
