This Friday, the Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais women’s teams faced off at Parc OL in the Arkéma 2024-2025 Première Ligue playoff final. After the 3-0 defeat), coach Paulo César spoke in the mixed zone. His future with Paris was discussed.
How do you feel about it?
You have to congratulate the Lyon team, but I’m proud of my team. We played a good game. There was the goal in the first half when we misplaced the ball, and then the 2 late on. I’ve got mixed feelings. The content was good, but we lost the title. They were more effective.
What are your words for the players?
Mistakes are part of the game. You have to accept that. I’m very proud of what the players have achieved over the last few weeks. We’ve worked hard and the content has been good. The team that won is the most effective.
Paulo César “We’ll have a chat, and I hope it’ll happen quickly.”
What has changed since you arrived, particularly in terms of your state of mind?
I’ve tried to change the energy so that it’s positive. With the pleasure of playing together, of having a common goal. I think I’ve pretty much succeeded. I’m very proud of the players, they’ve had a complicated season mentally. I’m happy to have given them the joy of playing together.
Are you going to continue?
I don’t know. I hope so, yes. I hope so, yes. But I’ll have to talk to the management. It’s up to them to decide. I’ve also still got some commitments with the U19s. We’ll have a chat, and I hope it’ll happen quickly.
