Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, stopped by the mixed zone after the 2-1 win (3-1 on aggregate) over Arsenal (PSG/Arsenal video highlights) this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes as part of the Champions League 2024-2025 semi-final returns (final on May 31).
Al-Khelaïfi “we’ve always believed in this team, in this coach.”
We have to be proud of what we’ve done, of the fans, of everything the club has done. You have to remember the league phase, we weren’t sure we’d qualify, but we’ve always believed in this team and this coach.
It’s wonderful for everyone. I told the players I was proud of them, of this team, of these players. We have great players, a great team.
Al-Khelaïfi “there’s still a very important match.”
But we’re not done yet, there’s still a very important match to play. We can celebrate tonight. What’s more, we did it in front of our fans, which wasn’t the case last time. It’s wonderful.”
Of course, the Parisians can be very proud of their achievements. They were “buried” by some after the first few games of the league phase. There were already some fine qualities in the game, even if there was still work to be done. But inefficiency was a major source of frustration.
PSG had no doubts, no fear. The players and staff simply worked with confidence to turn things around. The great symbol was the reverse fixture against Manchester City. That evening was a turning point.
Now, Paris can hope to win that famous trophy that will go down in history. However, as Al-Khelaïfi (and other Parisians) remind us, the title is not won. There’s still a very difficult final to play against Inter Milan.
We must continue with humility, confidence and solidarity.
