A historic moment for Paris Saint-Germain fans, who saw their team qualify for the Champions League final on Wednesday evening after the second leg against Arsenal (PSG/Arsenal video highlights). With a 2-1 victory in the second leg, Paris qualified to face Inter Milan 3-1, even though they suffered against the Gunners, and an immense Donnarumma kept Paris ahead. Mikel Arteta, coach of the English club, spoke to Canal+ to comment on his team’s elimination, and wished the Rouge et Bleu good luck.
Arteta: “the man of the match in both games was their goalkeeper”.
Did PSG deserve this victory?
First of all, congratulations, they were better than us in terms of the result. They had the man of the match in both games, and it was the same player every time, their goalkeeper. That’s the story, that’s what happened in both games. I’m proud of my players.
We played with a lot of character and a lot of intelligence. The reality is the result and that’s the difference, you can’t be happy with this result, we were better, we were unlucky. Even with players out injured, we were here as a team and we were competitive, but I’m really unhappy.
Do you think PSG can win the Champions League?
I hope so, because of my past here, I hope they win in the end. Now’s not the time to say go Paris, but when it comes to the final of course, I’ll be pushing for them.
