On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain faced Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League 2024-2025 semi-final (0-1 win in the first leg) at the Parc des Princes. After a match in which the Red and Blues played a solid game despite English domination, they won 2-1, 3-1 on aggregate (PSG/Arsenal video highlights). Here are our scores for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Gianluigi Donnarumma (8) – An impeccable first half from him, he provided reassurance and made some fine saves. He continued in the second half. A great man in this semi-final.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (8) – Goalscorer, tireless, made the calls, a great game defensively, but also offensively, this player deserves respect. PSG are lucky to have him.
Marquinhos (6) – We saw some very good things, but he’s also “partly” responsible for the goal conceded. He lets himself down too easily. It’s too dangerous to operate like that at this stage of the game.
Willian Pacho (7) – One of the best Parisians of the match, without question. He definitely had a great season.
Nuno Mendes (5) – Errors, problems with the restart, rushing, he was once again in trouble at times. It’s a pity, because he always manages to do very good things on the side. It’s up to him to take his attitude and concentration to the next level. Replaced by Gonçalo Ramos in the 88th minute.
Midfielders –
Fabian Ruiz (8) – A tremendous first half, in terms of positioning and recovery. Scored a good goal. Very clean tonight.
Vitinha (3) – A mediocre first half on his part. He was better in the second half, more in control of the game, but he missed a penalty and at this stage of the competition, you have to seize every opportunity.
Joao Neves (6.5) – Fought hard and had a good first half. He was less conspicuous in the second half, but continued to harass his opponents.
Forwards –
Désiré Doué (4) – Like some of his team-mates, he failed to match his usual pace and enthusiasm. Replaced in the 72nd minute by Lucas Hernandez.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (6) – A great game defensively, less so offensively. He “soiled the shorts” to help Nuno Mendes defend. Offensively, he’s struggling at the end of the season.
Bradley Barcola (5.5) – Did a good job defensively and offensively, but didn’t carry much weight. He didn’t feel as good, but like PSG, he still suffered in this match. Replaced in the 70th minute by Ousmane Dembélé
Coach –
Luis Enrique (7) – In a less “Luis Enrique” style, his PSG showed it could also suffer and be effective in both areas, the ingredients needed to go far in the Champions League. Just look at his statistics in the competitions played by PSG since his arrival. His worst result was a Champions League semi-final last year.
